A small write up about the Prof. M.S. Pillai Memorial Scholarship by our beloved Founder-Chancellor, Professor Dr. (Col.) A Balasubramanian in his golden words -
“Prof. M.S. Pillai was an innovator and an extraordinary professor and management educationist. He was a genius, known for bold initiatives in management education. I happen to be one of his blessed students. After my retirement from the army when I came to Symbiosis, Prof. M.S. Pillai was leaving for a Kerala based institute. But soon he came back to start SCMHRD while I was running SIMS. There was a healthy collaboration between us and we complemented each other, resulting in growth, both for ourselves as well as our students.
Prof. M.S. Pillai introduced meditation and Vipassana as compulsory subjects for his management students. He also mentored many corporate leaders. He was a good learner and a great teacher, totally devoted to his students. He was a kindhearted but tough disciplinarian. An excellent counsellor. Thousands of students have benefited from his training and guidance. Above all Prof Pillai was known for his humility and humanity. He was a role model and as his disciple and chancellor of SBUP it is my duty to cherish his memory through the Prof. M. S. Pillai Memorial Scholarship.”

A committee comprising of industry experts who were students of Prof. M.S. Pillai and representatives of the Sadhana Educational & Empowerment Foundation will nominate two students for this scholarship.

Bala Sir Memorial Scholarship
A total of 12 students (3 each from 4 institutes) are eligible to avail this scholarship.
Selection Process for Bala Sir Memorial Scholarship
A committee comprising of University officials headed by the Vice Chancellor will nominate the eligible students for this scholarship. A special preference will be given for “Uniformed People” such as Military, Para military, Police officials and their dependents.
Fee Structure for Bala Sir Memorial Scholarship
50% of the entire fee will be the scholarship to these students.
Grateful GNR Scholarship
This scholarship is only for the wards of JCOs and other ranks service/ex-servicemen from the Artillery regiments of the Indian Army. Complete academicfee for a total of 8 students (4 boys and 4 girls) will be coming paid this scholarship by SBUP.
The Director-General of Artillery, Delhi has sent an official notification to all the 6 HQs of various artillery centers – HQ Southern comd. (arty), (HQ South-Western comd. (arty), HQ Eastern comd. (arty), HQ Western comd. (arty), HQ Northern comd (arty) and HQ Central comd (arty) – announcing the scholarship.
Selection Process for Grateful GNR Scholarship
The eligible candidate’s parents must obtain a recommendation letter from their respective HQ and submit the same to the institute along with an application. If there are many applications, merit will be the criteria for selecting the top 8 students, by a university committee.

Dr. P.C. Shejwalkar Memorial Scholarship
A total of 12 students (3 each from 4 institutes) will be eligible to avail this scholarship.

A committee comprising of University officials headed by the Vice Chancellor will nominate the eligible students for this scholarship. A special preference will be given for Meritorious Economically backward category.

- The list of eligible students who are finally selected for this scholarship will be declared on or before 18th July/ The completion of admission process.
- The decision of the scholarship selection committee would be the final.
- Supporting documents from the competent government authority will be scrutinized by the scholarship selection committee and if found incorrect, the scholarship facility will be withdrawn and the next eligible student will be considered.
- Therefore, it’s a request that the needy students should apply.
- If the student/s paid the initial fees and subsequently selected for the scholarship the surplus amount paid (If any) will be refunded or otherwise the candidate can cancel the admission as per the rules.

Eligibility For MBA 2024-2026
A candidate who meets the following admission criteria can apply to Sri Balaji University for the MBA program of his / her choice.
A candidate desirous of admission to the MBA program should :
- Be a graduate from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved category).
- Students currently in the final year of their graduation and confident of securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks may also apply for the MBA courses. The admission committee may give more weightage to higher marks in graduation.
- It is imperative that the candidate should have taken at least one exam out of CAT / MAT / XAT / CMAT or MH-CET. MAT exams held after in Sep 2022 to Mar 2023 will be considered for admission to the academic year 2023-25. We believe that true talent cannot be judged on the basis of the score granted by any entrance exam. Hence, we do not have a cut-off score below which if the candidate scores cannot apply to the program.
- For students seeking admission in an MBA program for specialization in Finance, the preferred educational qualification is commerce. Students from other science streams are discouraged. However, for Marketing specialization in an MBA program, students from any discipline can apply.

Women
As a socially conscious university, we believe in the upliftment of women. Hence we ensure 50% of the intake of the students goes to female candidates and the remaining 50% goes to male candidates. In order to cater to the same, merit will be drawn separately for female & male candidates.

Admit Card issued to any centre is valid for all the centres and candidates can appear before the selection committee in any centre provided they have informed about their intention to appear before a selection centre other than the one mentioned in the admit card well in advance. No separate communication for change of centre will be communicated by us. The candidates are required to come with all their original and certified copies of degrees and mark sheets when they come for the selection process.

Submission Of CAT / MAT / XAT / C-MAT / MAH-CET Result / Score
Candidates should submit the application form with the photostat copy of CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ C-MAT/ MAH-CET scores which will be verified during Personal Interview. The latest MAT score which is available to the candidates can be submitted. It may be noted that we are not going to do our shortlisting based on the CAT/ MAT /XAT /C-MAT / MAH-CET score alone, although weightage is allotted for the same.
In case the applicant does not have an Entrance Examination Score / Not appeared for the Entrance examination or would like to improve the scores mentioned above can opt for Sri Balaji Entrance and Screening Test (SBEST)
Merit List
On completion of interviews, we compare the performance of all candidates appearing for the interview and generate a final merit list based on their overall performance. The candidate is considered for the course which he has preferred according to the priority mentioned by him/her in the application form. In case, he/she is not selected for the course applied by him/her, then he/she will be considered for other courses and selected on merit. It may be noted that all the Management courses are of the same status and the inputs are also similar according to specialization. As we have already mentioned the placement opportunities for all the courses are very good as has been proved by the track record of Sri Balaji University.
It means that each institution is important and enjoys equal status and attention from the top management. We select the best possible candidates for all the Institutes from amongst the common pool of all the candidates applied for admission to any or all the institutes of Sri Balaji University, Pune; although such a consideration arises only when a candidate is not selected for admission to the particular institute to which he or she may have applied originally. By doing so, we are in no way taking away any opportunity from anyone but are providing an additional opportunity to get selected in any of the prestigious institutes of Sri Balaji University, Pune.
Admission Process
The common application form for all four management institutes of Sri Balaji University, Pune, and the twelve courses can be submitted online with an application fee of INR 1000. If you are appearing for SBEST Exam the fee will be INR 490 (service provider taxes applicable for all payments). The successful payment of the application fee is followed by issuing of a registration number.
*The GD & PI and Essay writing will be conducted at the following centres. A candidate can choose any centre of his/her choice during the application process.
Written Examination
We accept management examination test scores such as CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT/MAH-CET test scores. However, as management examination test scores are issued to the students, any student who has appeared for the management examination test examinations can apply for our courses. Thus, all four Management institutes will accept management examination test scores. However, the management examination test and scores will be equalized and validated to the CAT score value and that will only be counted for the purpose of the merit list. It is not necessary that these scores should be attached to the Application form at this stage. These score sheets can be dispatched so as to reach us latest by 28th March 2023. Anyone having any objection to the same need not apply. We do not believe in any cut-off points as we give only 35% of the weightage for the entrance examination while making the merit list.

Group Discussions
Candidates who fulfill the qualitative requirements will be called for the Group Discussions by experts. This will be for a duration of 30-45 minutes per group. This may include role play, case studies, and extempore speech and GD. 35% of the weightage in the merit list will be given to the GD process. Therefore the GD process may extend to the second day although all efforts will be made to complete the process in one day. This is an elimination round.
Essay Writing is an integral part of the interview process. Written Communication Skill is very important for anyone to succeed in the industry. Therefore, the applicants will be required to appear for an essay writing exercise on a subject, which will be given on the spot in the selection centres. This will be for 30 marks and fifty percent of the marks will be counted. This essay writing will be for half an hour. The topics will be general in nature and anyone who follows the National Newspapers can easily appear for the same and score good marks.
Personal Interviews
This expert panel interview and the essay marks will carry 30% of the weightage. This panel will assess the candidates on various parameters including the suitability of the candidate for a particular specialization. The panel will also give the opportunity to the applicants to add or delete course options.

Education Loan
All MBA programs run under the aegis of the Sri Balaji University are specially approved for education loan from AVANSE, AXIS BANK, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, CREDENC, HDFC Credila, IDFC FIRST Bank, Propelld. Sri Balaji Society, Pune has signed MoUs with these banks. An education loan can be availed from any of the mentioned banks/NBFCs. However, students have the liberty to approach any other bank as per their convenience.

Categories of Ph.D. Candidates

Full-time scholars are those who are formally selected through an admission process for a prescribed fees for a fix duration in the university departsments.
Part-time

Industry sponsored Ph.D. scholars : It is imperative that the corporate leaders who have to deal / delve and resolve the practical problem of the industry should be encouraged and provided opportunities to undertake Ph.D. studies on major issues comforting them professionally. It will automatically promote industry-academia collaboration which is the need of the hour, flexibility where necessary will be catered for without compromising the cardinal principles of Ph.D. studies. This will also directly contribute the delivery of post-doctorate deliberations thereby increasing the richness / validity / relevance to academics as well as problem solving exercise in the industry globally. However, making a separate group for industry-sponsored Ph.D. scholars does not mean any compromise on rules and regulations studying under SBUP.

Scholars from educational institutes : Research scholars who hold full-time jobs in educational institutes and are permitted by their respective organisations to pursue their Ph.D. with SBUP may join as part-time research scholars. These candidates will pursue research under the supervision of SBUP’s Ph.D. supervisor and complete the mandatory credit requirements as laid down for course work. These candidates will follow all the rules and the regulations of the Ph.D. programme in letter and spirit.

However, the employer of such candidates should ensure to relieve the candidate to complete the course work. Also, a no-objection certificate must be submitted from his / her employer.
Eligibility Criteria For Admission To Ph.d. Programme
- Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC /ST / OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the policy of Government of Maharashtra from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
- In order to ensure that the utility-based research undertaken by experienced corporate managers with minimum service of 15 years in the various domain areas / specialisations in management, like Marketing, Human Resource, Finance, Business Economics, International Business, Information Technology etc., a new batch of corporate researchers will be formed. The co-supervisors for these corporate researchers will also be from Industries. This will be a unique and novel experience in the corporate research field. The mode of conduct of the doctoral research program and the related course work will also be modified wherever necessary, for example, the corporate leaders need not frequently come to the college but our faculties will be visiting cities where the number of registered corporate researchers is more.
- For the candidates working in organisations and applying as part-time external candidate will have to submit a consent letter from the respective organization.
- The candidates who are fellow members of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), having five years of professional experience are also eligible. However, they must have scored 55% marks at the graduations.
Duration of the Programme
- A researcher registered for the Ph.D. programme can submit his/her thesis after two years, after the completion of course work. The registration will remain valid for a maximum period of 5 years. Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of five years
- Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statutes / Ordinances of Sri Balaji University, Pune
- The women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of one year for Ph.D. in the maximum duration.

Admission Procedure
- Sri Balaji University, Pune shall admit Ph.D. students through an Entrance Test (SBUP - PET) conducted at the level of the University. The University may decide separate terms and conditions for Ph.D. Entrance Test for those students who qualify UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SET / GATE / teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. programme.
- An Entrance Test shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as 50%.
- The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.
- Students who will clear the entrance test will be called for interview / viva-voce.
